Hey all,

I hope you had a good weekend, mine wasn’t nearly long enough, but oh well. Today we are going to move past structure (cue the trumpets)  and work on design. It should be a good time. Here is the agenda:

  • Review: Wireframes
  • Introduction to design comps
  • Selecting a color palette
  • Selecting typefaces
  • Introduction graphic design tools
  • Begin Module 6, building comp elements

  • Photoshop ($169, too much in my personal opinion), pay by the month, free trial
  • GIMP– free
  • Pixelmator – Mac ($15, I use this), some compatibility issues

  • Complete Module 6
  • Polish on your design docs (no need to resubmit on course pages)
  • Read: About Prototyping
  • Read: Paper Prototyping
  • Chose a graphic design product
  • Find some tutorials on your product and practice
  • Bring copies of any photographs you want to use in your layout to class
  • Come to class prepared to do more graphic design work
